The International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) is a global, inclusive, and interdisciplinary platform. Membership is open to individuals and institutions worldwide engaged in or connected to advanced materials, energy, sustainability, and related scientific and technological fields.
IAAM welcomes members from academia, industry, government, and society, across all career stages.
Individuals
IAAM membership is open to individuals, including:
• Researchers and scientists
• Engineers and technologists
• Academics and educators
• Industry professionals and innovators
• Policymakers and advisors
• Entrepreneurs and startup founders
Individuals may join as Professional Members or Student Members, and may later progress to Fellow & Honors through nomination.
Students
IAAM actively encourages participation from:

Student and Emerging Talent members gain access to global networks, mentoring, learning opportunities, leadership programs, and career development pathways.
Fellow & Honors
Fellow & Honors represent IAAM’s highest level of professional recognition, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence, leadership, and global impact in advanced materials and related fields.
This category includes:
• Fellow of IAAM (FIAAM)
• Distinguished Fellow of IAAM (DFIAAM)
Fellow & Honors memberships are recognition-based and granted through nomination and formal review, not through direct application.
Institutions & Organizations
IAAM welcomes institutional membership from:
• Universities and higher education institutions
• Research institutes and laboratories
• Innovation centers and technology hubs
• Foundations and non-profit research organizations
Institutional Members may nominate multiple official representatives and participate actively in IAAM programs, collaborations, and global initiatives.

• Large corporations and multinational companies

• Publicly funded institutions

Global & Inclusive Membership
IAAM is a truly global association:
• Open to members from all countries and regions
• Inclusive of developing and emerging economies
• Supported by fee waivers, subsidies, and sponsored programs where applicable
Geographic location or economic background is never a barrier to joining IAAM.
Eligibility & Review
• Individual memberships are generally approved upon application
• Institutional and corporate memberships are reviewed by the IAAM Membership Office
• Fellow & Honors are awarded through nomination and formal peer review
