IAAM Councils exist to:
• Provide strategic guidance on IAAM’s scientific, industrial, educational, and societal directions
• Strengthen global collaboration across academia, industry, business, youth, and policy communities
• Support translation of research into real-world and market-ready impact
• Align IAAM activities with economic growth, energy transition, digital transformation, and climate neutrality
• Empower members through leadership, visibility, and professional development
• Ensure regional relevance while maintaining a strong global perspective

Science & Technology Council

Advises IAAM on research priorities, scientific quality, and long-term technology roadmaps.
Industry & Innovation Council

• Industry needs and market-driven innovation
• Translational research and scale-up pathways
• Startup, SME, and industrial collaboration
Role:
Guides IAAM on industry engagement, commercialization strategies, and innovation ecosystems.
Sustainability & Climate Council
Advancing net-zero and circular materials solutions

• Low-carbon, circular, and sustainable materials
• Energy transition and environmental technologies
• Climate neutrality and resource efficiency
Role:
Ensures IAAM initiatives align with global sustainability goals, including the UN SDGs and climate commitments.
Policy, Strategy & Global Affairs Council
Aligning materials innovation with global policy frameworks

• Science and innovation policy
• International cooperation and strategic dialogue
• Alignment with regional and global strategies (EU, Asia, Americas, Africa & Global South)
Role:
Advises IAAM on policy engagement, global positioning, and partnerships with governments and institutions.
Education, Skills & Capacity-Building Council
Developing talent for future materials ecosystems
Focus:
• Education and training in advanced materials
• Workforce development and upskilling
• Inclusion of students, early-career researchers, and young innovators
Role:
Guides IAAM’s education programs, training initiatives, and talent pipelines.
Regional Councils
