Overview
IAAM Membership Regulations define the basic rules for joining, maintaining, upgrading, and using IAAM membership. These regulations protect the integrity of the IAAM community and ensure that membership remains fair, transparent, inclusive, and professionally governed.
All members—individuals and organizations—are expected to follow these regulations along with the IAAM Code of Conduct.
Eligibility
IAAM membership is open to individuals and institutions worldwide engaged in, or connected to, advanced materials, energy, sustainability, and related interdisciplinary fields.
Eligible applicants include:
• Professionals (academia, industry, government, innovation sectors)
• Students (undergraduate to doctoral and early-career)
• Institutions (universities, labs, research centers, companies, public bodies, non-profits)
Membership Categories
IAAM membership includes the following categories:
• Individual Membership (Professional Member, Student Member)
• Institutional Membership (Academic/Research, Industry/Corporate, Government/Public)
• Student & Emerging Talent Programs
• Fellow & Honors (nomination-based recognition: FIAAM, DFIAAM)
Each category has defined benefits, fee structure, and participation scope.
Application & Verification
• Membership applications must be completed through the official IAAM membership channels.
• IAAM may request verification documents (examples: student ID, institutional confirmation, professional affiliation).
• IAAM reserves the right to approve, decline, or request additional information to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Providing false information may lead to rejection or termination of membership.
Membership Term & Validity
• Annual Membership is valid for one membership cycle and requires renewal to remain active.
• Lifetime Membership is a one-time fee option (where applicable) providing permanent affiliation, subject to IAAM policies and compliance.
Membership benefits are active only while membership status is valid.
Fees, Payments & Refund Policy
• Fees are set by membership category and published on the official IAAM fee page.
• All fees must be paid through approved IAAM payment methods.
• Unless otherwise stated by IAAM in writing, membership fees are non-refundable, including lifetime fees.
• Discounts, waivers, or special arrangements may apply under approved IAAM programs (e.g., inclusion or sponsored initiatives).
Renewals
• Annual memberships must be renewed before expiry to maintain uninterrupted benefits.
• Members are responsible for keeping their contact details updated to receive renewal notices.
Expired memberships may lose access to certain benefits and member privileges.
Upgrades & Progression
Members may request upgrades based on eligibility and engagement:
• Student → Professional membership upon graduation
• Individual → higher engagement levels (where applicable)
• Institutional → upgraded tiers at renewal or by request
• Fellow & Honors are awarded only through nomination and review (not by direct purchase)
Upgrade approvals are managed by IAAM according to established review procedures.
Member Conduct & Proper Use
Members must:
• Follow the IAAM Code of Conduct
• Maintain professional and respectful behavior in IAAM platforms and events
• Use IAAM name, logo, titles, and membership status responsibly
Membership must not be used for misleading claims, unauthorized endorsements, or misrepresentation of affiliation.
Institutional Representation Rules
For Institutional Members:
• The institution may nominate official representatives.
• Representatives must act in line with IAAM regulations and the institution’s nominated scope.
• IAAM may request updates to representative lists annually or as needed.
Suspension or Termination
IAAM may suspend or terminate membership if:
• Regulations or Code of Conduct are violated
• False information is submitted
• Membership is used for unethical, deceptive, or harmful purposes
• Fees remain unpaid (for annual memberships)
IAAM reserves the right to take actions required to protect the IAAM community and reputation
Policy Updates
IAAM may update membership regulations periodically to reflect governance needs, global compliance practices, and service improvements. Updates will be published through official IAAM communication channels.
